Becoming financially independent is a dream of many people.
The next step is to determine which platform is suitable for them to set up their store and get their business running.
I believe many of you heard of Shopify. You’ve seen adds, job applications for their positions (I actually tried to apply there for a co-op position; no luck). Some of you may already have trust in Shopify, yet there are some people who may still be a bit skeptical.
For those of you who are still skeptical, this review will help you get a better idea whether is Shopify worth it for starting your online store. If you trust Shopify, feel free to read this review anyway.
Quick Overview of Shopify – What is it About
Shopify is a platform that helps people open, run and grow their online stores. It not only helps people set up their stores online, but it also gives them training on advertising their stores, improving customer service of their store, improving conversion rates and much more.
Shopify has its headquarters in Ottawa, Canada, but of course, it is available for everyone around the world.
In other words, you can also call Shopify a “university of e-commerce and drop shipping” (in fact, they do have something called E-commerce University). They have all sorts of material that can help you learn about selling online and make you stand out as a business owner.

Who is Shopify for
Generally speaking, Shopify is for people who want to earn money the unconventional way, who are done with corporate slavery.
But if we dig a little deeper, Shopify was designed for people who want to start their e-commerce or drop shipping business, who want to open their online store.
Pros & Cons
Just like any product out there, be it a physical product or an online product, Shopify has its own strengths and weaknesses. Because the aim of this review is to give you factual, honest information, here are some pros and cons:
- Low starting cost
- Easy to get started for beginners
- Variety of customer support; you can text or you can call, whichever way works for you
- Optimized for smartphones; you can work on your store from a smartphone
- You can customize your store
- Taxes and small fees (roughly 4%) are subtracted from your profit

Shopify Tools & Training – You’ve Got Everything For Your Success
To get started with your online store, Shopify offers a variety of ways of learning about e-commerce and drop shipping, and how to be successful in these businesses.
First, Shopify runs its own blog where you can learn pretty much anything you need to know about selling online; how to get started, how to find your niche, how to effectively promote your store, and you’ll even learn how to deal with administrative things. I would highly recommend that you subscribe, since you may learn something new or important.
If you need more help or want to help others, Shopify Community forum is another place where you can start a topic of your interest or that may help others. In their forum, you can also find the topics of your interest to see if anybody had the same issue as you may currently have.
Also, if you just set up your store and need some feedback, forum is the place to go. Post your link in the forum and get some valuable feedback from other e-merchants and drop shippers.
Shopify also offers webinars that normally take place Monday through Thursday each week. There you can learn about setting up your store from scratch, as well as how to grow and market it. Oh, if you feel you can’t make it, replays are always here for you.
Another amazing feature Shopify has is what they call the “E commerce University”. It’s a collection of guides to e-commerce and drop shipping where you can learn about selling the right products, getting that first sale, generating leads, and lots of other information.
All of these guides are in PDF format and are free to download. All you need for this is enough storage space on your device and willingness to learn.
Tools – Shopify App Store
Shopify also has its own app store where you can get marketing tools so you can promote your store, increase its brand awareness, and get that traffic that will help you get loyal customers. For instance, on their app store, you can get sales funnel tools, squeeze page builders, email marketing tools, and much more.
Most of these apps are free to download.
Why is it so good? You don’t have to browse through third party websites to get the marketing tools for your business; once you get started with your online store, just check the Shopify App Store to find the tools you need.
Shopify Support – Expect Being Walked Through Each Process
Shopify offers two ways of reaching the support team, online and on a phone.
Shopify Help Centre
If you’re feeling a bit shy talking on a phone, you can definitely submit your question on Shopify Help Centre. They operate 24/7 and can help you with any question you may have.
Also, as I mentioned earlier, Shopify Community forum is also a great place to ask a question, where you can get a significant amount of help.
However, the best aspect of Shopify’s support system is that they allow users to call the support staff, in case of any questions or a need for assistance.
Yes, if you’re calling the Shopify support members, don’t limit yourself to just asking questions; these guys are doing an amazing job assisting you with setting up your store or anything similar. If you’re a complete newbie, the support staff can literally walk you by the hand as you build your store; they will explain how to do it and where you should go.
Overall, Shopify’s support team got your back, so do ever feel lonely or stuck.
Shopify Pricing – Low Startup Cost to Launch Your Store
First of all, Shopify gives you 14 days of free trial, so you can explore their platform and make a final decision if it is a good fit for you.
After you’re done with a free trial or you decide to upgrade, Shopify offers 3 plans: Basic Shopify, Shopify and Advanced Shopify. Here are the monthly prices for each of the plan:
- Basic Shopify – $29/mo
- Shopify – $79/mo
- Advanced Shopify – $299/mo
The awesome, and perhaps, the relieving part is that if you’re on any of the more expensive plans, Shopify gives you freedom to downgrade to a cheaper plan, in case you’re facing some financial issues; this can be done any time you feel you need it. Isn’t it amazing?
What I can say here is that if you’re totally new to drop shipping or e-commerce, I would recommend you to start with a Basic Shopify plan, since it will help you with the basics of opening and running an online store.
Shopify Affiliate Program – Awesome Commissions
OK, this section can be useful for affiliate marketers, who are planning to promote Shopify.
Shopify has one of the best affiliate programs. What makes Shopify stand out here is that whenever someone you referred signs up for a certain Shopify Plan, the commission that you get is what Shopify calls a “200% bounty”.
This means that if your referral signs up for a specific plan, your commissions are equal to the amount your referral is charged for the first two months. In other words, your first commission is twice the monthly fee for a plan that your referral signed up for.
What’s even more cool is that your commissions can be greater if you referral upgrades his plan before his second month on Shopify’s plan. In other words, your referral signs up for Plan 1 during the first month and by the next month, he upgrades to a more expensive Plan 2.
Hence, this “200% bounty” can turn into “greater than 200% bounty”, up to “1130% bounty”. I’m not joking here.
Quite lucrative for one referral, right?
Also, to become Shopify’s affiliate, you don’t have to pay anything, not a single cent. You just create your account, apply for an affiliate program, wait until you get an approval, and then go and conquer!
However, I must warn you that for your affiliate application to be approved, you must already have a website with some content posted. There were some people trying to apply for an affiliate program without having a website, and all of these folks got rejected.
Shopify is a 100% legitimate and extremely popular platform for setting up your online store. People love it and there are lots of folks who already achieved tremendous success, quit their jobs and jumped into drop shipping or e-commerce full-time.
Just let me share some success stories with you. Click on any YouTube link below to hear a story and convince that Shopify works.
My Final Opinion on Shopify – Would I Recommend it?
Personally, I believe the founders of Shopify are doing an amazing job in making it available and comprehensive for pretty much anyone who wants to try their hand at e-commerce or drop shipping. Hence, if you’re the kind who is dazzled by drop shipping business model, then I would strongly recommend trying Shopify.
But I need to remind you that you’re better off exploring the platform first, before rushing with conclusions. You get 14 days to explore it for free and decide if Shopify is actually for you.
Remember, in drop shipping, just like in any other business model, is takes time, hard work and persistence to achieve success. So don’t expect quick results! Don’t give up, if something goes wrong.
The guys, whose testimonials I showed you, went through ups and downs, built their stores through trial and error. They didn’t give up; they persisted and got what they wanted.
Treat hardships as challenges. Treat your online business venture as a game where your goal is to win. With this kind of mindset, you would never want to give up, and you’ll definitely achieve the results you wanted.
Do you feel Shopify is something you want to try? Are you ready to get your hands dirty with it? Are you willing to put in your hard work and effort to achieve your goals? If you answered “yes” to all three of these questions, just click on the link below! Go and conquer!
